    hi guys

I am new here and totally newbie abit computer stuff.

Today, thinking that my computer was a little slow,I tried to clear my temp file folder.when I tried to do that the following pop-up appear

    windows - delay write failed

windows was unable to save all the data for file xxx xxx. the data has been lost. this error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. please try to save this file elsewhere.

my comp started to get real slow after this..
I ran a disk check...which took forever to complete..restarted the comp..the problem's still there,I did a last good configuration and the problem came back after like 5 mins or so too right now I am using my laptop to key post
will try to get a HJT log if it's of any use

anybody here can advice what to do??
    thanks

Basically delay write doesn't write any changes to the hd while the system is buzzy it waits for a idle moment and then writes it. This speeds up the system but there is a risk if the power is cut then the data held in memory is lost. You can turn this off or on in device manager. Turn it off makes the system slower but safer.

To best help you, following info is rather needed:
Which XP service pack is installed?
    laptop or desktop,
    Manufacturer,
    Model,
    how much ram,
    size of hard disk.

In any case, download, install and run CCleaner (it's free).

    CCleaner

    OK.

    Can you boot into SafeMode?

    Fire up the computer.
Immediately start tapping the F8 key.
Eventually you will get a screen display with an option to select Safe Mode.

    Go ahead and click safemode.
Can you get to windows in this fashion?

    Good,
Now be sure and run the System File Checker (SFC /SCANNOW) at least twice.

    Is the system now up-to-date?

Have you installed Service Pack 3 (SP3)?
