USB mouse has red light but not working

    hiii... my mouse suddenly stopped working.. dont know why. i plugged it in.. theres a red light but the mouse doesnt move... its not even detected in the first place.. i only can use the touch pad..

    Hello TehJaywen..

    Is there a way you can test another,optical mouse...or any mouse as a matter of fact,but to get to the point if your optical mouse needs replacing i would go with that first..

    i tried 2 mouses.. none of them works. has light but the mouse cant move. i tried to plug in my ipod, PSP cable etc etc it works but only the mouse does not work. and when i plug the mouse in, something pops out and asked me to download the driver for the unknown device (mouse).. i clicked the first one (recommanded). after that it says the driver has been installed and its READY TO USE but still does not move

    Ok..In your device manager what does it show beside your mouse and or pointing device? If an exclamation point is there ,right click or go to properties and click update driver. Go with the recommended procedure in the prompts.

    under "mice and other pointing device" theres no yellow sign or anything.. only touch pad

    So you have no yellow exclamation marks? Next to USB Hub for instance...

    Some PC spec's would be useful as well.. How many USB devices to you have plugged in? Have you tried a different USB port?

    Ok, post up your PC make and model, then we can see if re-installing the chipset drivers make a difference.
