I have had a Linksys WRT54G wireless router for a couple of years now and haven't had any problems with it until recently. Devices are starting to drop off my network in the middle of use. Not a big deal...I figure it's due to the size of my house (over 5000 sq ft) and the number of devices connected to it (9). Today I decided to replace it with a Linksys WRT610N wireless router. After getting it setup and secure, I went to change the network settings on all my devices. None of the devices recognized the new router. I had to refresh the available networks 4-5 times on each device before it would find it. Even after finding the network, I could not get any of the devices to actually connect to it. When I got to my PS3, I think I might have figured out why. My "old" router had a 97% signal strength on my PS3. My "new" router only has a 45% signal strength. It was placed in the exact same spot as the old one. Why would a Dual-Band N router have less than half the strength of my old G router? I have hooked the 54G back up for now. Any thoughts before I take it back and get my $200 back?

I had *1* Linksys router, it worked ok, but it would never let me configure it at all (every time I tried typing in the router's IP I'd get timeout errors). Frankly, get your money back and buy a Netgear.

The Linksys WRT610N uses 5 gig as well as the normal 2.5 gig range and the 5 gig is a lot slower and worse coverage. The router seems to work ok at 2.4 gig but problems with the 5 gigs
