Hello forum, my optical drive isn't showing up. I'm not sure what the problem is, but there could be 3 conflicting programs. CCLeaner, Itunes, or Daemon Tools Lite.

It's not showing up in my computer or device manager. I don't know what the name of the driver is to look for the software either.

My PC is a Dell Inspiron One 2305 with Windows 7 x64

Any help is appreciated because I have some DVD's to burn

No, I'm sorry this did not work. It's still not showing up. I did everything exactly as described, but there were no upper and lower filters in that part of the registry ( there was some in another registry under class) but I don't know what they do so I guess I shouldn't delete them?

Do you have your Windows DVD -or any other bootable disk?

Try and see if your system can boot from it

No, I tried using a ubuntu cd to boot from and I got the error .. something like "please reboot with a proper boot device" Sometimes the tray will open, but sometimes it wont and I will have to stick a needle in the hole to open it. Even if there is a CD in there it wont register.

I think that you have gone through all the steps to verify functionality of that device: the drive is defect

respectfully I disagree, I'll look for another fix somewhere else. It has something to do with the software itunes or daemon tools lite. It stoped working about the time I used those programs. I downloaded the driver for the optical drive ( i forget the name of it) but It says drive not found... Perhaps I can contact the software vendor.

Hi, if your CD ROM not showing so there is only main two cause. One is that the wires are not plugged and second thing is its disabled.
If it is disabled so simply go to the my computer property
then go to the Device Manager and see the list of all devices in this you can enable or disable all the devices.

    Thanks for reading it..

OK, it's on here now for some reason. I hope it will stay on here, but honestly, I didn't do anything different except a registry clean and fragmentation... It must be some sort of software issue.

Ok, this is very strange, I cleared my google chrome browsing history, and I rechecked and it had disappeared, but it was there before I cleared the history. I don't think it's a hardware issue, because when it works, it works correctly...

So I guess it's disappearing and reappearing... very strange problem but it must be software related.

Ok, sorry it didn't work. It still doesn't show up. I'm not sure what I did to get it to come back the first time. When it works, it works great, but when it doesn't it acts like a CD drive ins't present (even when i try to install a driver for it it says CD drive not found)

You may have a loose connection can you power down your machine open the side and unplug all connections/wires/cables one at a time and make sure that you plug them back in firmly.
