Hello PCHF you helped me a few moths ago with my last win computer but now that one is no more and my family has a new headache to deal with ;-)

It seems that a program has installed its self and is not showing up on google searches because everything is in Russian! how do i make it go away?

furthermore: my dad browses indiscriminately, is there a way to make this computer idiot proof? like bulletproof idiot proof?

you guys are the best sorry if i broke any rules about pictures and posting

If it's just your browser that's in russian then it should be a simple matter of resetting the language options or resetting the browser. As for making your computer idiot proof, that's not always possible but there are a few measures you can take to secure it. Firstly, I would switch to a more secure browser (if you haven't already) and install some browser addons for security. The addons I use (for firefox) are:
    • Adblock Plus
    • Adblock Plus popup Addon
    • HTTPS-Everywhere
    • NoScript
The adblock addons should help stop your dad from clicking on interesting advertisements which can in turn load malware. I would also make sure you are using antivirus and firewall software to protect anything from infecting your PC. This forum topic goes into a lot more detail regarding the topic.

    Hello Biomecaman,

Please help me understand if you have tried uninstalling it from program and features. If not, please try:
    • Click the Start button
    • Click Control Panel
    • Clicking Programs and open Programs and Features.
    • Select the program and click Uninstall.
    • If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    Hope this helps!

    Hello Biomecaman,

Try using Revo Uninstallerto remove the program. Uninstall the program using the Advanced Uninstall option from the software. **Note: It is a third party website the website could have its own terms and conditions and there could not be any guarantee for the drivers; however try installing it if necessary.

The software prompts asking you to delete the Registry keys corresponding to the program. Select all and delete them. Restart the computer to remove any traces of the drivers/programs.

    Hope this helps!

Lets Hopefully get rid of the issue for you shall we. ;)

If Download Manager appears in the program files then I think I know of a way. [IMG]

Using the Avast Removal Tool for removing stubborn hard to remove files................
    • Download aswclear.exe on your desktop.
    • Start Windows in Safe Mode
    • Open (execute) the uninstall utility( Vista Win 7 User's Need to Right Click and Run as Admin.)
    • Locate the file or folder which you would like to remove/delete
    • To Have avast delete the folder you can specify which folder needs deletion by hitting the search button from within the Avast Removal Utility. [...]
    • Go to the C: Drive then Locate the Folder in program files.
    • Left Click the Download Manager Folder once
    • Select OK
    • Select Un install from within the avast removal tool
    • Select Yes To the Prompt
    • Allow confirmation of Deleted files.
    • X out of the Avast Un install Utility
    • Follow the Prompt To Reboot
    • (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)

After the reboot into Normal Mode remove Download Manager from add remove programs.

Although if you have Avast installed on your machine this will remove the Antivirus.
Hopefully this will remove that stubborn file for you as well.

After you complete the above then I would like you to Run the Junkware Removal Tool in Safemode.
