    sort of.

DEll laptop. windows vista home premium service pack 1.
installed new hard drive and installed the sw that came with the machine a year ago. ever since then when typing an email or instant message, the blinking line where i type at all of a sudden jumps to wherever the cursor is stationed. i dont know how else to explain that. its kind of like moving your cursor somewhere in an email and hitting the "insert" key.
so then if i am not watching, i start typing wherever the cursor happens to be. weird!

Any help is appreciated. by the way, as i was typing this i had to correct it 5 or 6 times. no rhyme or reason i can find.

Due to the way a touchpad works, if moisture gets into the touchpad, it will cause havoc, and move according to it's own will. It's most unlikely to be a faulty driver or anything of that manner, it's either moisture in the touchpad, general damage, that's the only thing I can think of really.

Hello and Welcome to PCHF, Richsfz1 :)

You might also try going out to Dell's site and updating drivers for your lappy. That's an easy and useful troubleshoot.

Have you tried the driver updates from Dell's website? It's very easy - support.dell.com -> drivers -> enter your tag # -> take all Recommended driver updates
