I've been using mp3 rocket for song downloads for 3 yrs without any issues. I have not used my mp3 rocket of about 3 weeks. Today I tried opening it, and nothing. I've tried every way to open the application, and nothing- just an instantaneous flash of the hourglass then nothing.

I was wondering if my recent upgrade to ESET NOD32 antivirus4 may have had anything to do with it.

    Please help!#!#

So, even though I paid for the song downloading software, it's still considered pirating software?

it is considered a fork from limewire and frostwire and fuctions the same as them which labels it as P2P software and P2P software is unsafe, and I looked on www.Mp3rocket.org and it is FREE but they claim it is LEGAL so I am unsure about it being pirated or not but if they are free songs and movies It is more than likely pirated.

Yes its P2P software but this problem is most obviously not caused by malware. I can't find anything illegal in the mp3rocket Legal either.

However, you should still reinstall mp3rocket because it might be damaged somehow.
Since most gnutella p2p software uses Java, you should update it to the most recent one.

might I add that the Eset firewall may be blocking the port it is trying to access.

A blocked port won't disallow the application from running completely or it would atleast notify about a connection error at startup.

Thank you very much for your help. I am not very computer savvy and was unfamiliar with what "P2P" even meant. If it is against forum rules then I can respect that. I surely appreciate the help I get from this forum and would not want to jeopardize my access.
    Thank you again.

Ya'll were right. I uninstalled Java 6 update 18, and Rocket works just fine. Will there be problems with my operating system if I don't have the latest version of Java?

Is there some application withing update 18 I can "turn on/off" in the advanced settings that would allow Rocket to function?

    I'm grateful for your help.

No, Java is not required for Windows to operate properly. However, software which is programmed in Java requires its runtime environment to run.

If this problem has been caused by JRE 16 update 18 then you have to wait utill mp3rocket will patch their software.
