    oh dear.

hello everyone. - I'm in a bit of bootsector trouble yet again methinks.

I switched on my (sisters) PC which i have been using this week.. earlier this morning..

and i was first of all presented with Options of which mode to start windows up in..
    Safe mode, etc...

so i chose, start windows normally...

the system then froze before it reached the Operating System... (which is winXP)

i restarted the machine, and now I am stuck with

    THIS on the screen...

    AMD Athlon (tm) 1250 MHz
    Checking NVRAM 524288 KB OK

Auto Detect Pri Master - IDE HARD DISK
Auto Detect Pri Slave - Not Detected
Auto Detect Sec Slave Atapi CDROM
    Pri Master BAJ41620 Maxtor GL080P0
Sec Slave 1.07 LG CD RW CED- 8080B

    (THEN IN RED CHARACTERS)

********** IDE DRIVES INSTALLATION ERROR **********
for best reliability and perfeormance, please change the stand alone slave drive to master System Halt.....

I have no idea why this has happened, and am at a loss as to what to do...

I cannot get into the setup or anything... when i try to...

    F2: Setup changes to GO->Setup
and nothing happens as a result....

please, some support would be very gratefully received!!!

    thankyou

    PP

At the start of the boot up, press the DEL key to enter the BIOS.
From within the BIOS, select restore factory settings (or some words like that).
    Then, select save on exit.

Is your OS Professional or Home? If it's Professional, press key the Boot-Menu specifies for entering the BIOS menu. As Gandalf said, restore factory settings and see if that works. If it doesn't, your sister may have messed up the computer. If you can, run a diagnostic test and post the results. You may get the help you need...
