    Dear PCHF
    I am running XP pro on a dual Zeon with Tyan mobo 2gig of ram. When I go to shut down the machine, I get an interesting window that opens up calling itself the "IAA Monitor Notify App". I honestly can say, I have never heard of this app. Tells me that if I choose to end the program I will loose unsaved files. Not to sound silly, but, what is this mysterious "IAA Monitor Notify App"? I can tell there is something wrong with my PC because, when I go Start> Settings> Control Panel, it literally takes this normally quick machine a lot of time to open my Control Panel. Something is up and I believe it's the above mentioned app. Have any of you seen or heard of this app mentioned above? If so, please do tell. I am at a complete loss right now. and am trying to get my PC back to normal.
    I appreciate any insight you may have regarding this matter.
    Thank You for your help
    George

    The IAA Monitor Notify App and is part of the Intel Application Accelerator on your computer.

    It is safe to click on the shutdown now as well to close it down.

    Here's a registry tip that will shut down your computer quicker.

    Save this to a Notepad file and save as Auto_End_Task.reg

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
    "ClearPageFileAtShutdown"=dword:00000001

    [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
    "AutoEndTasks"="1"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
    "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="1000"
    Backup your registry first.

    Then right mouse click on the file, and select merge.

    You will find that you will now have a faster shut down...

    Thank you for the tip Arctos. I am curious what causes this. My PC's are strictly for my recording studio, they only get used with recording software etc. I'm wondering if it is some updated drivers that I installed for my audio interface. Seems when I have my Cue mix console open for a long period of time, it may be causing the lull in shut down. I'll try your registry entry and see what happens.
    Thanks again.
