    Dear Experts,

I am having a problem to access FTP from home. I have tried to setup an FTP Server on Windows 2003 Server follow this link Set-up an FTP Server on Windows 2003 Server | Owen Consulting - IT & Web support for Small Businesses at my office. Then I try to access the ftp site from my home but it gives the following errors:
Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.
A connection with the server could not be established.

Kindly advice me on the above matter. I am quite new to FTP.

    Thanks.

Are you able to ping your ftp server?
If n then please configure your firewall if nay to listen request for FTP server and enable ports 20,21 to access.

yup, the ftp server behind a router but there is no firewall being set. The IP for my modem is 60.512.XX.XX. So I try to ftp at home using this IP but not successful. The local IP for the ftp server is 192.168.2.1. So you mean I need to try ftp locally using ftp://192.168.2.1?

Sorry because this is the first time I try to ftp:)

    Hi All.
Now when I try to access to the ftp server at home, I will get the following message:

Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.

    Details:
The connection with the server was reset.

Kindly give me some ideas on how to solve this problem.
    Thanks:)

You need to set the correct permission level in IIS ftp site.

Where to set the correct permission level in IIS ftp site?

Is it go to permissions of FTP sites under IIS Manager? If yes, then I have put the users under the security of FTP site already but still I got the same error message.

You will need to forward ports on the route or it wont work depending if you are using active or passive modes to connect

Thanks but I am using IIS 6.0. I managed to connect to the FTP sites already as I forgot to change the IP in the router :p

I got another question here is how do I get the ftp prompt for username and password when I want to login to the FTP? The situation now is when I typed ftp://60.XX.XX.XX it gets directly accessed without prompting me any Username and Password.

I need to have FTP environment where it must prompt me user name and password before I can access into FTP.

    Thanks.
