    hello guys.

this new computer I was building for a friend.

    2500k
    ram 12 gb
2 gtx 460 (can not sli yet ... I read somewhere that the integrated lan driver was the culprit)
    ssi 64 gb installed win 7 64
    PSU huntkey 900W.
    gaming fan for cpu.
    asrock extreme 4

so the problem is that the computer freezes. sometimes after 5 minutes and sometimes after 2 hours.

I tried with both cards, with one, and with even a gts 450 just to be sure but it keeps freezing.

btw it takes longer with the gts450 to crash.

I tested the cards in other pc (mine) and they work fine for now.

tried with only one mem stick. still crashes.

everything is really cold. processor at much 40 degrees C. normally at 30C.

the pc freezes with a white screen and I have to do a reboot.
and sometimes is just a black screen but pc keeps working, only monitor stops. I put a video and then it keeps sounding after the freeze (with black screen)

tried with 2 monitors same case.
everything is new. I have to do further test maybe but if anyone have an Idea please let me know.

the gts card is listed as compatible in the asrock website while the gtx 460 are not.

    I have a cpuz report.

    computer freezes even at BIOS.
also when in the BIOS I try to update with their tool it freezes just by selecting the option.

P.D. the computer 2 times have crashed with blue screen and then reebot. but yet is only two times...

    thank you

    hello updating...

I tried many configurations but I do not have any idea what could be going wrong.

When I use only one video card the system is stable, for about 3 hours I did not get any freeze (but after further testing system does crashses).
when 2 cards are in the system freezes. white screen of death.
I thought it was a mb pcie port but it does not seem to be the issue.

    any ideas?

new update, I tried to do memtest with loader cd but it just reebot or just does not start...

    :(

hello guys new update. I installed sisoft sandra.
I did the test with for video card with one of the video cards and then black screen or blue screen. like 3 times...

I thought one card was bad and installed the other one.

I did the tests. it passed all of them.

but after a few hours of using white screen of death again...

then I did a sisoftsandra burnout test and system crashes, blue screen when the test is starting. ...

maybe is the mainboard after all?

    Update ...
hello I tried to do the sisoftsandra test one by one and almost all the cpu test fail with blue screen...

I will make more test just to be sure but could it be the cause?

or maybe there are multiple damaged parts?

    :(

    update...
pc passed all benckmark tests. only failed the cpu ones.

I think we have a winner...

    Hello kenosecon

I will try to help but aswell as following the BSOD link, can we have the full make and model of all parts. As this was a self build you should have all the individual boxes with the details on.

Hello. Thank you for the answers.

I managed to find the cause (or so I think...)

when I install the lates nvidia driver the system goes crazy.

even if I install the new beta one.

but if I install the old driver that came with the cd the pc is stable...
I can even OC but not sli yet.

ok I am uploading 2 reports with the pc specifications.

sadly I formatte the hd so I do not have the old BSOD reports...

I only have this erros now.

Driver PCI returned invalid ID for a child device (010101010101010100).
    and Crash dump initialization failed!

I dissabled the cache in the ssd disk :(.

about the memtest when I try the cd test the system reboot or just does not start...

    just in case.

    mb asrock extreme 4 p67
    gtx 460 palit 768 mb x 2
    2500 k i5
    adata memory 2x4 gb
    other brand memory 2x2 gb
    ssd hd 64 gb
    sata hd 1 tb
    hunkey 900W psu.

Well a quick google of your card shows exactly what you've found out. The problem appears to be with NVIDIA's latest drivers and their incompatability with Win7 x64 (on some systems atleast).

Some people have reported freezes as soon as bios/post and these are likely faulty cards/BIOS settings. Providing this is not the case with you then I think it likely to be software not hardware.

A few people have reported success with the
259.32 driver. If it is newer than the one on your install disk then I'd give it a go.

For your SLI needs you will get a better response by starting a new thread in the graphics card section.

wow ... How Could I have missed that ...

well I installed the 259.32 driver. sadly it did not go well.

so I reinstalled the old disk driver 259.15.

so we can say the computer is going to be ok.

I am relieved, at least now I know the cause.

    thank you all

No problem. This is why we require precise system specifications so we can check for known compatibility issues.

Hopefully NVidia will get working drivers released soon but I wouldn't hold my breath
    :(

As I've said, if you want to get your cards working in SLI then please open another thread in the graphics section. Good luck and happy gaming :)
