    Hi,

I can't open inbox emails in hotmail using google chrome. I can't do this on my vista machine, however, hotmail in chrome works on other pcs, so its not my account. When I click an email in my inbox, it looks like its going to work (contacting hotmail servers) then dies.

I don't get this problem using other browsers. I have tried the following and none of it worked:

    1. Tested and enabled javascript - and it does work when I do javascript tests
    2. Uninstalled google chrome, then installed different versions, BETA and a known version that works on my other PC.
    3. Renamed google chrome profile so it creates a new profile
    4. Tried accessing hotmail in safe mode
    5. Lowered internet zone settings
    6. Installed/Uninstalled MS silverlight
    7. Added code on the end of Chrome string, try and fool it into thinking its another browser, safafi, firefox etc

    It works?
Also do you have any service packs installed?

Uninstall Chrome and reset every changes/modifications that you might have done to make it work.

Start and install Chrome fresh in safe mode and test.

Are you using Kaspersky by any chance?

The javascript works when I do a javascript test but hotmail inbox uses javascript, and I can't read my inbox messages. Maybe its unrelated to javascript.

I'm using Windows Service Pack 2. I have enabled "automatic update" which downloads Windows Vista updates regularly. Perhaps something has clashed.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled Chrome, deleted browsing history 5 times.

I have tested Chrome in safemode, no difference.

I can give Kaspersky a shot.

Is Javascript actually turned on for Chrome?

Click the spanner like icon on the top right then click options then click under the bonnet then click content settings then scroll down the Javascript and make sure it is enabled, also click the exceptions tab just to be certain, make sure plug ins are enabled as well (which is below the Javascript settings) again check the exceptions tab! Hope this helps.

Yes. Javascript is enabled. Nothing in exceptions list.

Please check attachment file. It lists all my plugins. I apologise, it's a bit hard to read but lots of information is there.

Could Windows Live messenger be related? I know hotmail and windows live are linked or interdependent.

    Hi,

I fixed this problem. My vista PC is set to "automatic updates" and it automatically downloaded a Microsoft .NET Framework update (around May/June 2011). This update clashed with javascript so I uninstalled this update and it fixed the problem.
