There are a number of possibilities, windows updates for example, but commonly a result of corruption, which wouldn't really be surprising if your disk was unexpectedly shutting down. A disk check from windows, or go to the recovery console, and type in chkdsk /f would resolve that problem if this was the case.

I always use Spybot Search and Destroy. It is free but also has a choice to buy it. Freeware will do the job however if you buy it you will be amazed with how clean your system will get. I would also recommend maybe a memory defragment for your ram or your page file.
http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/PageDefrag.zip Theres the link to PageDefrag. This is not dangerous It can clear up some issues. Also might I suggest checking out a program called lavalys everest home. It is a program that is used for systems diagnostics and you can get straight links to your drivers for updates hardware monitor and benchmarking and also will give you hard drive test results. Hope this helps out. |

Sorry for being so inactive on this thread; I finally caved and sent the thing in to the shop that helped me build it. Not an ideal solution, but I really appreciate everyone's assistance in helping to resolve my frustrating PC problems. I'll update this thread with the ultimate cause of my freezing when it's out of the shop.
Thanks again! |

Wow, back from the dead.
I couldn't afford all of the ridiculous things the shop was trying to charge me for, they basically were trying to get me to pay for a whole bunch of unneccesary junk. I plugged the PC back in today praying that time had simply resolved my issues, and it blue screened after about 10 minutes. A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. A wait operation, attatch process or yield was attempted from a DPC routine. Technical information: *** STOP: 0x000000B8 (0x8073D1E0,0x884686C8,0x80755000,0x00000000) Collecting data for crash dump ... Etc. Etc. Etc. Any ideas? |
