Angry Biggest hack I have ever seen on my computer

Sorry to be a noob and what have you for signing up. - but I can't get rid of this great virus/spyware that someone managed to put on my computer.

My computer was recently infiltrated somehow - and what happened was, the guy that was doing it did his work, then automatically shut me down. When I came back up i had all these fake security alerts and what have you - that was fine - but the problem was - my Norton Antivirus no longer would open and I could not reinstall it. My Spybot Search and Destroy will not connect to their servers, same with my Ad-aware. This is the main problem I am having - it won't let me visit anti-spyware/virus servers - it just comes up saying that it is "unable to connect, even though it appears there is nothing wrong with the web site" - obviously the guy who got me knows his stuff.

I finally managed to download a trial version of Nod32 - it cleaned up most of the viruses and what have you (i.e. those fake secuirty centre alerts and other programs that would install itself in background). What still has not been fixed is this strange server thing - where it will not let me visit any of these sites - or download from Spybot so that could clean it for me!

Would I have to format my computer? Although, I would prefer this to be the last resort. Any help would be much appreciated, I'm at a loss.
Cheers.

Is it the Trojan.Zlob? Did it install like Antivirus2008 on your system? If so Malwarebytes will probably get it off.

ITCalamity - Welcome! We have an abundance of helpful users and experienced techs that will get you through this issue.

You indicate that you are experienced with PCs. Are you familiar with the HOSTS file? I would suggest that the malware has placed 127.0.0.1 entries in the HOSTS file for the antivirus websites. That would cause the PC not to be able to access any of the AV sites for updates or downloads.

If you are unfamilar with accessing or eding the HOSTS file, please reply and I'll assist further. Best of luck. Please keep us informed.

haha yeah, it must of been that Trojan.zlob - except mine was the 2009 version lmao.

Anyway, I have good news. I decided to format my computer anyway. I've had this XP for at least 3 years the way it is and it was time for my first format. My PC is now running at least 3 times faster as a result. But thanks for the help, sorry I cannot give you the pleasure of fixing this problem for me.

If you guys know how to transfer songs from my iPod over to my iTunes, that would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the help.

Well it's not pleasant, but sometimes I guess a format is necessary.

Don't have an Ipod, but here is something that may be what you need:
How to copy music from your iPod to your iTunes library

Maybe other members will have more to chime in as well.

DCi ADMIN,

Re: accessing the HOST files to correct 127.0.0.1....I am all ears! I am unable to download any security software, it all goes to that address. Thank you!
