A few months ago, I was the victim of malware, and a program by the name of ‘Antivirus XP 2008’ took my computer hostage. Unfortunately, although I was able to remove bits and pieces of it from my computer, I was ineffective in deleting it completely. You see, I received a “pop-up” today. A gray and red box reads as follows:
Warning! Spyware detected on your computer!
Second line:
Install an antivirus or spy ware remover to clean your computer
Third line:
Warning! Win32/Adware.Virtumonde
Detected on your computer
Warning! Win32/PrivacyRemover.M64
Detected on your computer
Please activate your antivirus software to Clean your computer
I would include a screenshot, but I am trying to limit the time I spend on the Internet.
There are no pop-ups, such as the rouge scanner that filters through imaginary files that I associate with the XP Virus. I tried to use Microsoft’s One program or another to scan the computer, but it went to a blue screen, with a strange code that read, “NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL”, or something along those lines with white letters. Afterward, the computer was forced to scan the disk, and detected no problems. I cannot change the background.

I am at the end of my rope, and hope that someone here will provide support. Please respond if you know what to do.
