Unhappy Spyware in Windows Explorer

Hi, I keep getting a message telling me that my system is infected with spyware and I should purchase additional software to get rid of it. It shows up with a Windows Explorer box. I am using Mozilla Firefox only. I am using Windows XP Home. I have run my spyware program from my ISP which is Bell Sympatico, Spyware Terminator (a free download) and Spybot Search & Destroy, yet i keep getting the message about purchasing the additional software.
I am a beginner when it comes to this type of problem, so I hope that I have given enough information.

Hi, I followed most of what you suggested. However when it comes to switching to safe mode etc. I must admit that I get very nervous. I am a complete "noob" when it come to this and even though it may sound simple to some people I have a problem here and don't have anyone I can contact should I run into a serious problem.
Sorry

Hi Gary safe mode is fine it is just like being in normal windows, however the screen will look yukky in safe mode so please do not worry.

Reboot PC and repeatedly tap F8 to get to safe mode.
