Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me what is the main deference between IE and Mozilla Firefox ? I have been using IE (version 6.0) for one year but from now on I have decided to use Firefox. I just want to know as to what Mozilla can do which Internet Explorer can not.

Hi Jason, welcome to PCHF.

Internet Explorer is more highly used, but only because it is the default web browser that comes with Windows. Internet Explorer is probably the most vunerable browser in terms of security than any other. Some may argue that this may be because it is the most popular.

Mozilla is a completely different web browser, based on Netscape with a much cleaner interface and more secure. There are features of Mozilla (such as tabbing) that Internet Explorer has only just started to take on board with IE7. in terms of security mozilla is considered one of the best web browsers however, in terms of downloads and gaming some sites only work with iexplorer

I have been using Firefox for a couple years now, and it's more reliable and stable than IE is. Some say it's faster, but it's about the same in my case.
Every so often, you will come across a site that is IE only, but being the scrooge that i am, i leave.

I have always used Firefox. It is believed to be more secure with less security holes. Also people like it because of its customisation options. In IE you cannot choose how your browser looks and feels, what you see at first is what you get.

At the end of the day, it is up to you however. I know plenty of people who would choose IE over Firefox.

GaRHaR will agree with me on this one. IE7 in Vista is currently more secure than Firefox in Vista due to the Protected mode. But I still use Firefox often as i like the addons etc, if i find a site im not sure about i will switch to IE and open it there.
