Question Opinions on different Anti-Malware software

I've been browsing through the forums and have come across SuperAntiSpyware, which I hadn't come across before. I usually use AVGAS, Spybot and AdAware. Does anyone have any opinions on which software I (or my students) should use on a long-term basis?

Also, does anyone have any opinion on which is the best free anti-virus software to use?

Hello Jim.

There's no best free anti-virus program, but the three promiment ones are listed in the link Cart posted above.

SUPERAntiSpyware is a solid anti-spyware program, and I've found it to pick up things that Ad-aware,Spybot S&D, and AVG-AS don't detect. All these are on-demand scanners, and shouldn't take up much memory (unless you run all of them together for some weird reason!)

Let me know if you need any more information.

I've started using SUPERAntiSpyware, the free version anyway, just for scanning. It seems to do a pretty good job. It claims to be the most thorough scanner out there, not sure if that's regardless of price or whatever.
