Default [Answered] java versions

Would it be a security vulnurability (e.g vundo) to have older versions installed as well as the most recent. E.G on the ad or remove programs screen quite a few old versions still show as installed as well as recent versions. Should I uninstall the 6.0 and 6.1 java runtime versions which are two of the previous versions with 6.2 as the most recent, would this stop any vulnurability?

Thanks, Jake

I'm not sure there are any vulnerability issues with 6.0/6.1, much less remotely executable vulnerabilities, if I recall vundo exploited a much earlier version of the jre but if you're a bit paranoid then sure, uninstall old versions, do you need them there anyway?

Hello. I'm moving this to Spyware/Adware forum since it is more appropriate there.

Would it be a security vulnurability (e.g vundo) to have older versions installed as well as the most recent. E.G on the ad or remove programs screen quite a few old versions still show as installed as well as recent versions.
Yes. Vundo infects itself through outdated java versions.

Yes, until Sun Java takes steps to fix this vulnerability.

Just uninstall, there's no reason not to, and even if it doesnt make it any less susceptible to attacks, it would still reduce the risk of running into errors due to multiple versions installed
