Unhappy [Resolved] Spyware/Adware problems!! Tried every program i kno of!!!!!

Hello, just last night i was downloading something. In the middle of d/l Mcafee popped up and said trojan detected. I immediately stopped the d/l and deleted the trojan using Mcafee. I decided to call it a night.

When i woke up this morning, the computer was running extremely slow. And at startup an obvious fake security program started in the tray. I closed it. I immediately started a virus scan with mcafee. Though nothing was found. So i started to get on my yahoo mail. And like that the page froze. Pop-ups started everywhere. i was knew i was **** .

So i bought Spy Sweeper because i had it on my old computer. I scanned and it found something like 300 traces. I deleted them and restarted my computer. Yet that fake security thing was still there. So i decided to scan again, this time scanning archives and all roots. It found another 100 traces or so. I thought i was in the clear. So i deleted them and restarted. What a suprise the fake security thing was still there and so were the pop-ups, though fewer in number.

I thought maybe registry mechanic could help. So i bought that and scanned. it found some 400 traces. i repaired them and restarted. the fake security thing was still there. there was still another problem... pop-ups.

I decided to try another program ive heard good things from- Ad-Aware. I downloaded and scanned.-scan took 1hour 30 min. Found 350 more traces. I restarted the computer and FINALLY the fake security thing was gone. So i got on the internet and everything worked for about 5 sec. Then it started freezing the page up, and giving me pop-ups. I repeated the scan with it finding other traces but the pop-ups remain.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I'm out of ideas. and also IE now takes about 60 sec. to open after clicking on it. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Adam I am having some major issues and i think my computer is going to crash at any moment. followed ur instructions and booted in safe mode, but the farthest i got was a black screen with it saying safe mode in all four corners. i tried many times. Then i rebooted in normal mode and mcafee gave me a notice of certain tmp files trying to access the internet, i clicked deny. then it said a trojan has been discovered (New 'somethiin' j.) i forget the name. So i hit delete. then spy sweeper tried to open but then said fatal error try reinstalling. Then i tried to open mcafee to check on the trojan, but then i got a similar warning and it wouldnt open. What can i do, safe boot wont work

Since this is the case, just stick to normal mode for the moment. Download and run HijackThis and post the log in your next reply, and I'll see what we can do about it.
