Default How do I change permissions?

I have this file on my Compaq,
compaq-rba.exe
I want to delete it, but it is write-protected.

This file is a message application that compaq uses to send information back to them
I have tried to just change the settings on it, but a message pops up saying that I dont have sufficient permissions.

I looked up how to change the permission, but I dont understand it at all.

If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Hi YoungBarrels

Welcome to the PC Help Forum

Log out of the profile you're using, and at the profile selection screen, press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice which should change the way you log on temporarily.

For user, type Administrator and there usually won't be a password. Try deleting it from that account.

Consequently, are you trying to simply delete the folder it's in or are you using the add/remove programs applet in the control panel?

Thanks for replying.

I tried to log on as Administrator, but I need a password. I am pretty sure the profile I normally use is the administrator profile.

I have tried to remove this application in the Add/Remove, but the message center still keeps popping up. I can change the settings to just turn it off, but I need "sufficient permissions". I suppose if I cannot get permission to access the file, is there any other way that I can disable the write-protection on this file?

compaq-rba.exe is a file common problem starter for many users and it is considered spyware. Also, it is very annoying, popping up every 5 minutes or so.
