Unhappy viruseIs my hp_recovery drive infected viruses survive reformat

I have rebooted my hp pc after a colection of worms and spyware have shown up in my norton antivirus while it is scanning e1.dll , hazafibb, pc keylog and many more that i havent searched threw on google, have been showing up in the file display, but norton doesnt seem to know a thing about them "0 viruses".

After reboot and destructive reformat they are still present in the scan as they pass through but norton seeems oblivious to there exsistance, i have only installed norton after the reboot and not connected any external hardives, so infection thtat way could not be possible.

Can my hp_recovery be infected, norton doesnt seee to think so when i scan the partitioned drive.

Could the recovery discs i have made from the recovery drive from after a previouce reformat be infected from such a selection of viruses, as i have also overwritten the recovery drive with the discs i have made, because of a shared drive worm is possibley on there i have manged to lose hookerdll.dll along the way of reformatting twice.

Should i upgrade to vista, get new recovery discs from hp????? HELP!!!

Basically i would like just reboot the whole system to factory settings with out the viruses following me, i dont know how to use the hijack logs and so on.
I would just like to know if the viruses are able to reinfect using the hp_recovery and to anyone who i familar with the hp computers partition you can not acsess it (well i cant), is this true could a program(s) have manged to install into the recoverys windows folders.
i dont want to go through the long journey of removeing the 5+ nastys thta have managed to get on here in 5 months of buying, i just wanna reboot.
How would i go about searching for the viruses in the windows\ folders.
norton doesnt just display these for the fun of it and not see them??
