Default Blank window pop up in task bar. Please Help!

Hi, Im new here and not sure if I am posting in the right place or not. The problem that I am having is a Blank window opening periodic on my tast bar. Its grayed out and has a square box inside it with a Blue top.
I don't seem to get this when not on the internet. I have Run McAfee and nothing comes up as well as Ad-Aware SE and have had no luck at finding whats causing this. I have thought about down loading Max Secure Spyware Detector but figured I would see if anyone here had any ideas as to what I can do. I am connected to the internet my way of cable modem and I use a Linksy's Router. Is it possible that what I see if cause by my router cycling? Any help would be greatful

Hi there and welcome to PC Help Forum,

Try keeping your Task Manager open on the processes tab (with high cpu % processes at the top) - then when your mystery program pops up it should appear on the list, although briefly, it may give you enough time to note the name.

Hengis, thanks for trying to help. But so far I have sat with Task Manager open several hours on and off and still no luck. I'm not sure if I was clear as to what is happening. Down on the task bar area next to the start button where open programs show up is where this BLANK box that keep poping up. Its the same size and shape as one would be if it were a program. But its balnk and has a small rectangle box inside with a Blue header. It acts to me as if its a program that activates and stops. Any more advise would be greatful.
Thanks for your help

Hi Chasin,

My welcome to PCHF as well.

This very much sounds as if you have a malware infection. Please carefully follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature, it is possible that the two programs you ran were unable to identify the problems.

Please post back here with the resulting three logs, and we'll see what seems to be causing the problem.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi Chasin,

Sorry, I've been ill the last several days. You are looking in the wrong location . You need to right-click on My Computer, and choose Explore. Then Tools, Folder Options, View.

We'll keep an eye out for your logs.
