Not sure whether I am in the right thread but from advice somewhere on these forums I downloaded CC Cleaner, I then analyzed instead of clean and there must be about 300 files that require cleaning, what effect will this have on my PC if I did clean?? and is it safe to do that?

It depends what the files are, make sure at the side you select only the types of file you want to clean.

I was in a similar position to you when I first downloaded CCleaner. But dont worry its a very good program, and its never deleted anything that has adversly effected my system. If you are concerned, create a restore point and then run CCleaner. But you should be fine. If its to correct errors in the registry it will as you if you want to save the changes and you can always restore them later.

Hi Charles

Be very carefull of CCleaner, as you obviously know, the corrective issues that can be implemented can have an adverse affect on the registry.
I would invite you to check out out the link in my signature below entitled PCHF PreWork.
Follow the instructions and post a HJT log back here so our resident Security analysts can give you a constructive opinon and also assist you with CCleaner.
