For the last 2 days I have been trying to remove a trojan from my computer known as the Brontok email virus. I think it's also called W32/brontok. Anyway, this virus is very frustrating. I have tried absolutley everything to try to remove it and can't. What it does is creates copies of system files like crss.exe or lsass.exe or services.exe or svchost.exe or winlogon.exe. These take up 100% of your processor. You can't end these tasks, nor can you open Regedit, Msconfig, Command. You can't even modify Folder options to see hidden files. I have downloaded EVERY brontok removal tool and they have all failed. I have tried safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, disable system restart, normal mode, and everything. I have tried everything from bitdefender to G remover, to SDfix (which runs sophos), brontgui, and brontsfx. Whenever I try to run these, either my system restarts, or the registery disabler fails... Either way, the programs absolutley fail. I really can't reformat because I can't find my XP bootable CD. Does ANYONE have a solution for me? I have tried everything, my registery is hijacked and modified to the point where even programs desigened to override it fail.
