Default Cant start windows properly

I deleted limewire and then the problems started. I can't run windows normally b/c it says I have an invalid boot.ini and it will start from windows. But most of my programs are unavailable, and no matter what mode I run windows in a windows installer tries to install Microsoft money.

Here is what I get from java after trying to get rid of limewire...

LimeWire version 4.11.0
Java version 1.5.0_01 from Sun Microsystems Inc.
Windows XP v. 5.1 on x86

I am running now on a restore point from the morning before the problem began, yet the installer is still running wild. I need to know how to rebuild the boot.ini

Thank you

Hi Lynx

Welcome to PC Help Forums

Ok so you have deleted that piece of trash from Add/Remove programs.
Try running a Search for all instances of Limewire and delete those, choose the option to Look in hidden Files and Folders.
Obtain AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy from my link below, update them and run them. Dump all that they find.
Obtain Hijack This and locate the folder in C:/Program files.
Run the program and choose to save results to a log file.
FIX NOTHING YET.
Copy and Paste the log file back here so our HJT experts can take a look.

Welcome to the PCHF thehumanlynx.

Please follow this link here "Invalid Boot.ini" or "Windows could not start" error messages when you start your computer to find out how to rebuild your boot.ini file.

Once this is done, can you please follow the prework link in my signiture, and post the resulting logs back here.

Moved to security thread.
