Default A funny thing: NoAdware = evil?

I just went on a security program rampage, getting as many anti-spyware or virus programs I could that were free. I then ran Ad-Aware SE, which I have had for some time, and it reported NoAdware as being dangerous. So I let it destroy the malignant software, then sent in the Microsoft Program Uninstaller to finish it off. No problems there.

I'm just wondering why it showed up as bad? :o

Aside from that, any other recommendations to improve security?

I'm behind two Apple Airports, which have built in firewalls, I believe. And I get Network Associates anti virus protection from the UofC. So I think I'm good.

Hi Jones,
More does not necessarily mean good. You should only have a resident anti-virus program running on your computer, and preferably two or three anti-spyware programs. You should only use trusted and legitimate programs, such as AVG for the virus protection and Ad-aware SE Personal, Spybot Search and Destroy, Windows Defender, etc for the spyware protection.

Here is the information on NoAdware from the SWW list of Rogue/Suspect Anti-spyware products and websites:
NoAdware was listed on this page because of concerns with false positives and the use of aggressive, deceptive advertising including exploitation of the name "ad-aware". Earlier versions of NoAdware were also the same underlying application as Adware Hitman, Consumer Identity, Protect Your Identity, SpyBan, SpywareAssassin, Spyware C.O.P., SpywareKilla, The Adware Hunter, & TheSpywareKiller. Over the past few months, NoAdware has taken aggressive steps to reign in its affiliates (who were primarily responsible for the unsavory advertising) and released a new version of NoAdware (version 3.0) that addresses our concerns with false positves. Given these changes we can no longer regard NoAdware as "rogue/suspect" anti-spyware.

If you have anymore questions, please ask.

Hya Jones.

Did Ad-Aware actually detect parts of Noadware as malware , or maybe files that where quarentined by Noadware?

It isn't a big loss though , there are plenty of better apps out there.
