Default Windows Explorer Problem

Hi again, I have yet another question. On my laptop anytime I right click my computer and go down to explore it always says something like "Explorer encountered an error and needs to close do, would you like to report this to MS" If I say yes or no it still closes the exploring window. It also does the same when I just open up My computer. One time MS sent me back a message saying I needed to installl service pack 2 and that would fix my problem, nope.

BTW, Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 with all current MS updates.

Thanks for your help!

No sir, it still does the same thing. Windows Explorer has encountered a error and needs to close, were sorry for any inconvenience. We created an error log, would you like us to send it to MS.

Thanks again. Anything else I should try?

Problems like this are often caused by shell extensions , download and run this app:

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

And then disable all entrys that are marked white and red and see if the problem is still there or not.

If it is gone , then eneble them again one by one to see wich is causing the problems.

PS, a entry marked red is very likely malware of some sort. If you have any marked in red then dont eneble them again and post wich they are back here please.
