Default Many computer issues...Very frustrated

Hello, I think I have some spyware/virus issues...I ran my AVG and Ad-aware and found nothing. I've read about some other programs like Highjack this. I tried downloading and it will not install. I get a box that says "invalid picture". My Outlook Express will not download my mail from hotmail. If I right click on an icon on my desktop I freeze. I can see in task manager that explorer.exe is taking all of my processor percentage. I usually reboot from task manager when this happen. I can't right click on my start button to get to explore. I lock-up. Programs are not installing after downloading. I see the hourglass as if they are going to install but then nothing. This has been doing this scince last night after I downloaded a newer version of dbpowerAmp from download.com. It wouldn't install and my machine has not run right since. I was going to try to system restore but my XP help and support will not open all the way. I have to go in task manager and close it. It slows me way down. Please help.

Does noone want to tackle this. They say the average response time for a 1st post is thirty minutes...these are real issues I need assistance with. I sat for two hours after I posted my first entry last night hoping I would get a response with some direction to go in. So I go to sleep...get up...knowing that someone by now has decided to atleast say to get lost or let's do this. No, nothing yet...thirty-some people have looked at it with no response. I realize I'm not the only person with an issue that is looking for assistance but I would think by now I would at least get an acknowledgement of my existance. Anyway, sorry about the rant...but this is frustrating me. I have a gig this weekend and need to use this machine. And it's barely running. I really do need assistance....

Hi there Cash.

Try Hijackthis without saving it first , click the link and just select run and when the zip file opens try to run hjt from there. See if you can make a log that way.

And see if you can do a Panda online AV scan here:

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan

And post the log from that aswell.

If hjt still doesn't work then click here and download Itty Bitty Process Manager (IBProcMan.zip): ibprocman.

Unzip it to it's own directory and try running it - it will provide a 'taskmanager' like process viewer in which you can stop running processes. Don't stop any yet, just list all that it has so whe can check them and give advice.

Post the list back here please.

Well...I'm on my mothers machine and thought I'd check to see if anyone has responded yet...I'm happy to see that yes there are people that care...Unfortunatley I had to resort to unhooking my machine a bringing to a shop....They are talking about doing a complete wipe....not good but I was desperate...

I tried a few things this morning after talking with a tech...a couple of online-scanners (trend something) and (something with a "ski" at the end of the name) anyway they didn't work. couldn't load the active x files. So I broke down and am going to pay the money....$...the wipe starts at $112.00. I'll let you's know how it turns out....

Sorry to hear that , it would have been nice to be able to fix it for free.

Pretty heavy on the price btw , $112. They are only going to format and reinstall windows for that? Im sure we would have been able to help you do it youreself easely and for free , but let us know how you get on.
