Default can't view https pages

I have a Dell laptop that connects to the internet fine. I can browse http pages no problem. As soon as I try to view https pages, I get "cannot view page" errors. I'm running both Firefox and IE. I suspected malware and ran the TrendMicro trial version and cleaned what it found. I still cannot view https pages.

I have another PC that can view the same https pages. I've compared settings in IE and can't see a difference.

As anyone had this problem and if so, what did you do to resolve it?

thanks

Hey Matt,

This could be something as simple as the date and time on your PC. Because you're trying to view https pages (secure), the time and date need to be right.

If the time and date are both ok, then it may be the security settings on your internet connections. Check these out:
Open Internet Explorer and select the Help menu.

Select About Internet Explorer.

The Cipher Strength should read 128 bit. If it reads less than this you will need to upgrade your Web browser.

Click the OK button.

Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.

Select the Advanced tab and scroll to the Security section.

Check the settings for SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are ticked.

Click the OK button.

Hope this helps.
