Hya Dnlsgbn , welcome to PCHF.

What do you mean with the explorer bar? How does it look like?

And to look for malware , please follow the instructions in the "Prework" link (below in my sig) and post the Ewido and Hijackthis log to a post here.
Then i'll have a look at those.

Youre hjt log is clean , can you also post the ewido log?

And if you rightclick the toolbar , what options do you get? (if any)

Default explorer bar on desktop

...that's where i made a mistake.........

being new to hjt, i clicked "fix checked"...

when i right-click it, nothing happens.
i left-click, same thing.
r/l-click and drag, nothing.

Folder Tasks, Other Places, and Details work
as if it were an explorer bar.

everyday, my system seems to be slowing down,
i noticed my quick launch icons disappearing.
i can roll over them, but i don't see any icons.
they are also changing; my iTunes icon is now a Word icon.

when i have Volume Control open on the desktop
and i click in an open area,
the volume control minimizes when it usually doesn't

thank you

Hey Guys,

@Dnlsgbn,

You can go ahead and allow all of the items in ewido to be fixed.

Can you please download Spy Sweeper and RegSupremePro from my signature?

Install and update Spy Sweeper, then reboot into Safe Mode. (continually tap the F8 button while booting up, until either a beep sounds or a menu appears. Use your arrow keys to choose Safe Mode and then hit Enter.)

Run CCleaner again according to the instructions you followed before. Then run Spy Sweeper, click on Options, Sweep Options, make sure everything under What to Sweep is checked EXCEPT Do Not Sweep System Restore Folder. Make sure all of your harddrives are selected. Now click on Sweep, Start. Let it fix everything it finds. Save the log to post back here.

Run CCleaner again, and reboot into regular mode. Install and run RegSupremePro, it will want to create a backup of your cache, let it. Now click on the Registry Cleaner tab, and select Aggressive. Once it has finished, click on Start, select All. Click on Fix, and let it fix all that it finds.

Now put your CD into your drive and go to Start, Run and type into the dialog box; sfc /scannow This will run the sfc utility that will look for damaged and missing system files.

Next run an HJT log one more time, please post back the ewido, Spy Sweeper and HJT logs back here.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN
