:-) Usually you don't need items that you don't use all of the time, like your CD writer, that's something you can open on your own when you need it. The nice thing about the utility is that you can turn things back on after you turn them off, so try one item at a time, look for programs that you recognize and disble them at startup.

Like I said, I'm no Merlin, butthese seem like good places to start
C:\WINDOWS\System32\GEARSec.exe
C:\Program Files\NetLimiter\NetLimiter.exe
C:\Program Files\YahELite\YahELite.exe
C:\Program Files\YahELite\YahVox.exe
Also, I will be interested to see what Merlin thinks, It seems like you may be running more than one protection software doing the same job. That can really cause your PC to slow down.

yes running 2 AV's can slow down the pc alot, taking tons of ram.. Here is a good site to compare what you have and dont need
