Hi
I hope someone can shed some light on a problem thats recently started on my IBM Thinkpad T21.
A while after booting up, the green light on the laptop that flickers when it is "doing" something starts to flicker. This goes on and on and on and makes my PC run extremely slow. Web pages take an age to load and if I try to openan application such as outlook it will also take an age.
At first I thought it may be windows update running but im not so sure because it is happening every time I boot up and I also switched it off.
I think it also happens without being connected to the internet but I will double check.
Also when this problem happens I get msg's from Norton AV saying it is doing scans of some CAB files and other files.
The light does stop flickering and PC become more stable usually after about 30 mins, sometimes thats it for the evening and other times it will start again.
90 % of my PC usuage is done whilst connected to the internet.
I am using XP pro with Norton AV 2004.
if I press Ctrl Alt Del during the slowdown I think it shows that svchost.exe is using the most resources.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Marcus
