Thats why i asked where you got them from , the homepage of hijackthis is:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/

And a direct link to hijackthis:

Hijackthis

And just uninstall spydocter , there are better , free alternatives like spybot , ad-aware , MS anti spyware , ewido enz.

I am completely unable to save the hijackthis.exe in my documents. I keep trying to. It will ask how I wish to save it, I save as a document .zip file, I click 'open' and nothing happens. I try and open it going through my documents and nothing is there. I am sorry I am taking long to respond but I have been trying everything over and over again. And it also seems that each virsu scan I run gets different results.

Safe hijackthis zipped to youre HD and try to run hijackthis in safemode (hit f8 when booting up) , if that doesn't work try to rename the zip file before downloading and saving , and the exe file when extracting. (I.E. rename it to H.zip and H.exe)

Maybe that works.

That's just the problem , he can't safe or open it. There is some mal-ware out there that prevents hijackthis from running , i think he has it...

Halfway through d/l-ing Ewido it stopped and told me I had to be running Windows 2000 or higher to finish. I am on Windows ME. I have hijackthis d/l-ed in my documents but it does nothing when I click on it. It will not open at all. There is no way I can find to prompt it to do anything at all. Any other suggestions? I tried to restart my computer and hit f8 while it was starting but I have been unable to get the 'safe mode'. Often when I have been restarting my computer today, it stalls while shutting down, sometimes for quite a long time until a pop-up appears and the re-start process quits and it just goes back to my desktop.
