Default [Resolved] i think i destroyed my friends notebook...

Hello everybody

it seems like i've done something terrible to my friends notebook.
i have it because i was supposed to clean it up cause it was full of spyware and slow and
everything. so i deleted lots of stuff, scanned with spybot, housecall and ad aware.
i did that both in safe mode and normal mode. i also deleted things like
the messenger plus sponsor and stuff. then everything worked fine and i decided to
restart in safemode one more time and scan again. that found some more which i deleted.
i really can't remember deleting anything else this time.

then i changed settings in msconfig to restart normally again.
but after that, the pc ist constantly turning itself on and off. with pressing f8 i tried
to restart again in safemode and the other possiblillities but immediately after
pressing enter it turns off again.

then i still have the choice to excess the system utillity config but i don't understand
a thing there.

now i'm like having a nervous breakdown here. i don't know what to do

if you have any suggestion please help me!

Hi there Girl in uniform.

Sounds like its time for an repair install:

XP Repair install

Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below
This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

Press Enter to start the Windows Setup. To Repair Install, press ENTER
do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, read this Warning#2!
Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.

oh joe5 thank you...

but there is another small problem here. that is that there isn't any cd drive on this notebook at this time. it's supposed to get repaired but my friend has been waiting for a new one for 2 months now. Medion isn't the quickest to deliver spare parts to iceland...

is there anything i could do with that system utility thing?

Well , if windows doesn't boot in any way then you can't acces the System Configuration Utility , so thats not an option.

I think you really need a cd-drive :-(

What is the model number of the laptop? And does it have a floppy disc drive?
