Default Internal Microphone problem

Can someone help me with an audio settings problem I experience with my Windows XP Media Center Edition? That’s probably simple, but when you don’t know it, it’s very inconvenient for both you and your skype contact you are calling to. The problem is that I have an internal microphone on my Acer Laptop which give a very low/bad sound to the one I am calling to and also an external independent microphone which works normally. The case is that once I go to Control Panel Sound and Audio Devices Audio  Sound recording panel – Volume (Recording Control) to tick my Front Mic (which is the external one) it changes back to select Mic Volume and uncheck my Front Mic, resulting in using only my internal microphone delivering the low/bad sound. It usually changes every time I restart or start a new call in any messenger, including Skype, QQ, and MSN, and it also gets back in its “default” position maybe after I restart the whole computer or it gets stand-by. Please, if you know how to change the default settings to use only my external microphone, or how to deactivate my internal one, leaving only my external Mic. Working, I will appreciate it! Thank you!

Apologies for the delay, TigerLiLov

Do both mics show up in Device Manager? Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager

Not sure which device heading those might appear under. Look around - you can do no harm...
