Solved: Sound cutting out at the start/Starting late

Hi,

I posted the same problem a few months ago, but never got around to replying. Everytime I open a music file (mp3, wav, etc), the sound starts about a second in. Meaning looped sound files don't work very well at all.

Last time I posted this question, I was advised to install the LAME codec. I did, and it still didn't fix my sound.

If anyone has other suggestions, I'd appreciate it!

Hello there lets see if we can rule out an issue or rule one in.

Please could you post:How to post your computer specifications.

Also update your sound card hardware driver.

What are you using to play your music?Windows Media Player and what edition?

Or another software to play them?

Windows Media Player 11. It also cuts out in Firefox, though. In Winamp, sound works fine.

I'll fill out my specs and update sound drivers, then report back.

Did you download and install Klite codecs?

Or try an uninstall/reinstall of WMP 11 if you are using XP?

Yes, I have the Klite codecs.

I'll try a un/reinstall of WMP11 now.

Brilliant.

Now once you downloaded the sound card driver from Realtek you will also receive HD Audio software this can be used to configure your sound card in conjunction with windows sound controls.

I would also uninstall KLite and maybe reinstall it,some times downloads corrupt during download and install.

Hi,

Just about finished.

I do have some good news to report! After reinstalling WMP11, the sound seems to work fine. In Firefox and any other programs, the sounds are still starting late.

I've just gonna restart my computer to finish sound driver install, then I'll see if it's any better.
