Unhappy No sound, doesn't detect any audio device.

Hi, well, my computer's sound doesn't work (Windows XP)
Ever since I got a blue screen of death, I brought it to a place to get it fixed, and now the sound doesn't work, I've tried all the, "maybe you have it muted" stuf, but not it doesn't even detect my speakers. I assume it has something to do with my sound card or driver, my speakers work, i've heard the interference noise from a cell phone on my speakers, so could anyone help me please, I've had this problem for a long time =/

if you need any screens from me, just ask.

Alright, let's start with the basic. Have you tried opening the case and seeing if you have a sound card? It'll be connected horizontally to your motherboard. If so, remove it, and plug it back in firmly. Also get the card's model if you can.

If not, then you'll need to find your motherboard model (or if you have a Dell, Compaq, HP, etc, computer, then the model for that will do) and we can see if there are drivers you need for the sound.

I'm pretty sure that there is a soundcard there, I don't know how to take it out or open it up though.

the sound worked before i brought it to the shop, so if for some reason he took it out or something he might not have placed it in well or something.

now that i think of it, I think we also got more memory in it too, and got a new part on the back of it to plug in sound, which i've already tried but doesn't work, it has 5 plug in spots and another bigger one for a plug with prongs in it.

Could you take a picture of the back of the computer maybe?

Also, are you able to open the side of the case up? It should have a few screws on the back, and once removed, you just slide the side panel off.

You connect the sound to the new part right? Which color plug did you try it in? The green one? That's the one you need to plug it into

yeah thats what I had it plugged in the new part(the green one), I just unplugged it for the sake of seeing the part without wires in the way.
