FIRST MY STORY

I have a s96j asus laptop and the speakers went bad so i opened it up and ripped em out (which made me feel better).

anyways, i got this external sound card device (creative sound extigy) which is now no longer made. i didn't get it with the original software and i can't find it to dl easily. i got drivers for it though it cautioned me to have the original software to make it work *shrugs*.

i also have another computer with 5.1 though i don't know if it's true or just faking 2.1

SECOND THE REAL ISSUE

is there a simple way to text EAX and 5.1? by simple i mean i don't have to use a program and try and see if i can detect it, but one that focuses on those sounds.

i need to return that extigy in 13 days if i can't get it showing me EAX or 5.1.

What is the exact model of the Extigy and also what operating system does the laptop have.

the product # is sb0130, but i'm no quite sure 'cause i bought it at a 2nd hand pc shop. i use ms xp.

i don't have the original cd to make it happy. spend a couple hours cruising forums but no luck on getting this to work. trying to get the base installion form somewhere and to get the control center for this usb sound card working.
