Exclamation Wmplug ????

I have been continually having problems with the sound on my wife's PC. I down loaded the XP Codec Pack 2.3.7 and ran that seem to help some. But this sort of got put on a back burner for a while due to other projects I had to take care of. I finally got a chance to run the Codec Detective "sherlock" this afternoon and it came up telling me that I had a broken Codec called "wmplug". I have uploaded the saved file from sherlock, in case it is of any use in resolving this problem.Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Already tried that. Actually She only had version 10 to start with and I upgraded it to 11 to see if that would solve the problem and it didn't.

Also, try...

Open your Device Manager
click on View ... Show hidden devices

Click on and Delete (with the Delete key) any devices that have a ? or ! in front of them.
If the Device Manager has an "Other" device category, open it and Delete any devices in the "Other" category.
Now, reboot.

The reboot will force Windows to refind the deleted devices and hopefully see them for what they are.
After rebooting, give Windows time to locate and properly install the deleted devices.

Go to the Device Manager and verify that all your devices are listed correctly.

Smile Re: Wmplug ????

that seems to have taken care of the sound problem. In the AM I will run it through a series of sounds to ensure it is not acting up, but at this time of night it is only time for old men and there wife to go to bed.

Thanks for all the help Gandalf, I greatly appreciate it, and so does my wife.
