hi all i have just got a new mobo off one of my friends its a asus A8N SLI deluxe and i cant seem to get my speakers to work through it. when i boot up it has a voice that says post finished now booting to operating system and that plays through the speakers but when xp has loaded up there is no sound and no speaker the the tray. i have looked in devmgmt but nothing seems out of place there i have even tried diff filters so im now at the stage where i want to throw some thing hard at the tower lol!!! hope some one can help

Sounds like a driver issue...I guess you have tried the drivers from here? ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

lol and i thought it was me having a bad day lol
not sure now ive tried ac3 filter ac97 filter and tried realtek package still no joy

Does the soundcard show in;

1) The BIOS
2) Device Manager

no the only thing that shows in devmgr is the sound vid games and controllers list nothing else for sound! where would i look in the bios pls???

Don't worry about that for the moment.

Let's see if we can identify the soundcard. Try either (or both) of these and let's see what make and version the soundcard is...
