Exclamation New Headset, Mic not Working

Just bought a brand new Razer Piranha Gaming Communicator (Headset). Plugged it all in as normal, sound works perfectly, everything seemed fine, except my microphone isn't working for some reason. Just wondering why that is I have tried different ports, sockets, computer meets the system reqs. Why isn't it working? Is there something specific I need to install? My sound from the headphones is fine, but why isnt the mic working?

The computer is a HP, model a6157c, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00 GHz 2.00GHz 2038 MB, 32-bit OS. The headset is brand new from Best Buy, came in a sealed box. Didn't install any drivers or in any way install it, just plugged it in the plugs and the sound worked immediately, but the Mic still doesn't and hasn't worked.

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Try going to device manager and updating drivers.
Do you have a sound icon on your task bar or could you go to control panel and check your sound settings check sounds are turned up and not muted anywere.

If this did not work I sugest you check you have the items plugged into correct ports.Go yo device manager and uninstall your sound card restart your computer and let find new harware wizard install it again.Do this while your hardware is plugged into your sound card.

I just tried to update all the drivers, and nothing is muted anywhere. I think the problem might be is that the microphone or headset is not under any of the devices, as I can only see "Realtek HD Audio under the sound devices. The problem might be that the PC doesn't recognize the mic, or hasn't found and installed it yet. I cannot find any signs that it's plugged in, or that it's working. Seems that it's not recognized and doesn't appear under any devices. The headphones work great, but the mic still does not.

Have you tried uninstalling your sound card and rebooting your computer while these items are plugged in?

Using XP? If so, goto control panel-->sounds and audio devices-->Voice tab. Make sure your default device is correct. Also, in this same tab, click the volume button under voice recording and make sure it is up all the way. After that switch to the Audio tab and make sure the proper recording device is selected. Or you can do the Audio tab first. Doesn't matter. Hope this helps!

I am using Windows Vista Home, how do I access my Sound card and uninstall it and reinstall? And how do I access the voice tab on Windows Vista?

It looks like you want to go to Start-->Control Panel-->Hardware and Sound-->Under "Sound" heading click "Manage Audio Devices". Make sure all the settings in there are correct.
