Default Microphone does not work for Sound Recorder. Mic is not muted.

And the thing is that I can record music coming out of my speakers. I cannot record my voice that's going into my microphone. It's plugged in into the correct spot. Output for mic is not muted. Input for mic is selected and slided to full. Please help.

Hello Funzone36 and welcome to PC Help Forum

Without knowing what sound card you have this will be hit and miss so let's get started. First open Control Panel then double click on Sounds and Multimedia. Click the Audio tab. Make sure your audio card is there in the Prefered Devices box under Sound Recordings. If this is ok then close that. Now double click your Volume Control, click Options then check the Advanced. If you have the Advanced button under the Mic Slider click that. Make sure the Mic Boost box is checked. Ok...One other thing to check.Go back to Options on the Volume Control and click Properties. When the Properties box comes up check Recording. Then make sure Mic is checked in the <Show the following volume controls>. Click ok then under the Mic slider should be a box with Select by it. Put a check in that box and see if your Mic works...Good Luck
