PC Help Forum Staff: Would it be appropriate to ask about the items in my device manager in another thread? I'd like to post the following image in the motherboard forum (or elsewhere if more appropriate) and ask why I see those devices:

Hello you may have to download chipset/driver packages for you computer hardware.

Downloading and running does not ensure an install.

You need to manualy install drivers from device manager.

Choose install from a specific lacation advance.

Then choose dont search i will choose a driver to install.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- This will scan your PC for the driver downloads you will need.

Hello jelly bean. Thank you for the response.

I have already installed all of the applicable drivers from the Asus website, except for the audio driver since that one is not able to install either through the device manager or through the provided executables. I have attempted to install the "PCI Device" and "Unknown device" via the device manager via the method you've noted and receive the error I noted in previous posts.

Have you tried uninstall both devices and reboot and see if found new hardware wizard installs them?
Have you tried windows update and use custom install not express.

Here is your mainboard now check device manager what is missing from your board specs and you will find out what your unknown devices are.
ASUS

If you could let us know what is not listed in device manager would be great.
Driver downloads.

Some times drivers install badly or download badly, some times a reinstall helps.

A good way to sort this out is to download all the listed drivers on the link,SAVE them do not run.

Burn them to disk then in device manager choose the option for CD/Floppy,then device manager will search the disk and install correct driver.

Or click on free driver scan button above this should give you a list of drivers you need.

Alright, let me know though, shipping to Cali from here is ~5$ via UPS ground, prolly cheaper through USPS.

To make it a bit easier, I'll answer these one by one:

Yes, I've tried this multiple times. Each time I restart, the "New Hardware Found Wizard" comes up. The problems is that the wizard does not recognize what it is, so I must manually point to a location that has the drivers. After pointing it to the correct directory, it returns the "hardware was not installed [...]" message. Please see earlier screenshots for reference.

Yes, I only use custom any time I use Windows Updates and all updates (except for the Ethernet driver) are installed. The ethernet driver installed is already working.

Unfortunately I'm at work right now, so I'm not able to go through each device in the device manager, but like I noted before, the only peripheral on the motherboard right now is the video card, which has the drivers properly installed and is working correctly. Everything except the onboard audio seems to be working correctly. Plugged into the back ports are only my monitor, keyboard, mouse, CAT-5 cable, printer (drivers installed and working), a 500Gb USB hard drive, and speakers that aren't receiving any signal from the PC.

One thing I have not tested are the front USB ports, which I'll have to do when I get home later. However, I have installed all of the available drivers from the Asus support website for my specific board, including the VIA 4-in-1 drivers.

I'll give both of these methods a try later on. Thank you.
