Default [Answered] Sound Setup Possible?! And How!?

I am trying to make my laptop into a sound system for a play my local school is doing. I have one question about the microphone setup...

Bluetooth Headsets

Laptop

-
Speakers

From the Bluetooth Headsets that connect to the laptop, right through the speakers without being recorded on the laptop.

Im fine with the bluethooth connecting to the laptop but not with the headsets to go right through the speakers.
Anyone know how to set that up?

Hello AGM, welcome to PCHF.

Sorry, just a little confused as to what your actually trying to achive.

It is indeed possible to use a laptop for your sound system, and many do. Not sure if bluetooth is a reliable approach though, and what do you mean by "recorded on the laptop", why would it be unless your actually using recording software at the time, I would have thought you would be playing sound, not recording it? Headsets that go right through the speakers?

The best approach, if your setting up the system as a DJ, is to use your onboard laptop sound system to preview your music, as onboard laptop sound chipsets are normally very basic. To play your music live, you will need an external USB sound card/device (such as Sweet, or better if you can afford it) to provide you with an extra line out channel. What software you using?

well I need wireless microphones for when the actors are on stage. Any idea on how to connect them to the laptop?

Don't you have a line in/microphone jack at the back of the laptop?

That's all you need. You could also buy USB wireless microphone such as: Revolabs USB Wireless Microphone MacSpeech Store (but there are cheaper around, depending the quality and type of microphone you want to use). If you already have the equipment, then all you need is a line in. The wireless receiver should have a line out you need to use to connect to your laptop's line in.

But when they talk into the mic, it wont come out through the speakers.

That's OK, all you need to do:

- Double click on the speaker icon in your system tray at the bottom right hand corner next to the time.
- Make sure the line in and microphone is not muted.
- Then go to Options followed by Properties.
- Click on the Recording option, and make sure all options are ticked at the bottom. Press OK.
- The volum control box will then change to "Capture". If you have a "Stereo mix" line, then you can select that to enable all line in sources. Otherwise click "Select" on the line in or Microphone depending on what port you have connected the receiver to.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
