Default No Output audio device installed (error)

IM sure many of you have heard of this problem already, the one where you get a X on the speaker icon. I have gone to device manager where it shows 'high definition audio device' and that it is working properly.
I have tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall but still no change.
Also in a post on this forum somebody suggested checking registry but their was nothing to be changed when i checked.

All this started when i installed vista home premium 32, this was and still is the only problem I am having with it. I am very frustrated please is there anybody out there who can help

Hi there, uninstall your sound driver, download and run CCleaner included is a registry cleaner also, then reboot, and re install the driver and see if that helps.

Cool Re: No Output audio device installed (error)

Tried it and still no joy, the driver auto installed after reboot and then said installed successfully. The sound card on this pc is onboard i don't know if this can help with solving the problem.

Hi joker, I had this very same problem when i installed Vista, i sorted it by going into device manager, right clicking the soundcard and clicking on update driver software
