The sound on my computer was working fine one day and then nothing the next day. I have some small desktop speakers plugged in and checked all the connections. The volume icon on the task bar kept changing to mute even though I had unchecked the mute box.
I wiggled a couple of the cards in the computer thinking they were just not in tightly, and now there is no sound icon on the task bar at all, and the control panel says there's no sound device at all (there was before).
Help!

Hi there and welcome to PCHF, could you click on Start and then Control Panel, then double click on System, then click on the Hardware Tab, and then click Device Manager. Expand "Sound, Video & Game Controllers, and you should see something similar to AC97 Audio. Once you have found out what sound card you have, could you post it back here, and i will try to locate some drivers for you.

-Legacy Audio Drivers
-Legacy Video Capture Decvices
-Media Control Devices
-Video Codecs

Hi IM2492 Is your sound card onboard the motherboard, or is it a seperate Dedicated PCI Card?

we actually have the same problem, and my soundcard is onboard on my MoBo.. how do i fix this?
