Arrow [Resolved] First build- Creative card wont play sound w/ mobo rear connections??

Hey I am a new member and have to say this is the most organized user friendly forum I have ever come across!

I just finished my first build. It was originally my Compaq Gaming X that needed a makeover. It was lagging with online games and a new render program. So a new mobo, graphics card, AMD cpu, and power supply takes its place.

With the new setup I kept the Creative sound card and front panel connector that originally came with the hp gaming X.
The new asus mobo comes installed with a adi 1988b HD audio codec (not sure what all that means but it works when speakers are connected.)

Then I installed the Creative driver discs and set it as the default in the audio settings. Now I am getting no sound out of the rear analog connections on the back of my mobo. So I hooked a set of headphones up to the front creative connector and DO get sound.

Did I miss a connection or something? The mobo has a AAFP and CD connections that arent hooked up to anything- but I dont remember the old setup connecting to the mobo besides the PCI1 port but i cant recall for sure. Stuck and not sure what to do. Maybe a setup in bios? Thanks for your help.

Here are the specs for the gaming x
Hardware
Case
Aluminum Coolermaster Wavemaster full tower
Processor
Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Hyper-Threading
Motherboard
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe with Intel 875p chipset
Audio
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum ZS soundcard
Video
GeForce FX 5950 Ultra with 256 MB memory, 8X AGP, with S-Video and DVI out

try connecting the speakers into the Sound Card audio connectors. Usually the onboard sound is disabled in windows and/or BIOS when you connect a PCI sound card

AW 3 3 you are a life saver! That did the job, and what a difference in sound quality and volume compared to the Asus stocker. Dissapointed with the HD drive asus supplied w/ mobo. But I guess they are expecting us to upgrade everything anyway right?

I did some cutting and put some plexi glass on the side of the case for 2 more fans. If anyone wants to see some pix of the new rig I would be happy to poste some. (Speaking as a proud father haha)

Just a comment for Kraftwerka-- if it did not disable the onboard... the two would conflict with each other, and aftermarket sound is most times far superior. Onboard setups are much better than they used to be ...but still won't beat out a separate card.
