Default microphone is too low

hi,i have a microphone yet when i speak into it,the volume that comes out when i playback is too low,whats the problem?is there a program that can adjust this?or is it from control panell?i am running xp pro.thx all

Go to Control Panel
Open Sounds and Audiodevices
Click on Advanced... on the tab Volume
Here you can select the volume of the Line-in, I think this is the one you need...

no i am using neither wolfeymole.

and to robman i dont get an option for line in,only master volume,wave,SW synth and cd player.
i think thats for the volume of the speakers not the microphone.

Go to Control Panel
Open Sounds and Audiodevices
Click on Advanced... on the tab Volume
Click Options
Click Properties
Mark all the boxes, hit OK
Click Options again and select Advanced Controls
See the Microphone one? Click Advanced and enable microphone boost, and then adjust volume slider of microphone slot as needed, try something low first

Go into All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment and choose Volume Control
In Options tick the Mic option like this.
