Hey i got a compaq presario 7000 wit windows xp

Hi there, i would try removing the old sound card driver, and installing a more upto date one, to see if that fixes the problem.

Are you sure is the sound card? Could be something like a speaker or speaker cable...

I am not sure with this particular problem but sometimes when you instal a soundcard you need to go into your bios and turn off onboard sound for the soundcard to work properly
